This text was written based on the program Dialogues Doctors
of 26/07/2016. In this program, we discuss a matter of Spiritualist
sheet related to the topic. We know that, in general, sexuality is taboo
crossing times and cultures.
The aversion to homosexuality is one of these taboos, something that
does not go through logical explanations. Clinically, homosexuality has
been cataloged in the past as a disorder. Today, it is not considered a
disease, but a preference. In a few countries, homosexuality is still a
crime; in some others, hostilities against homosexuals go unpunished by a
failure of the authorities.
In the religious field, some radical Christian groups based on a biblical passage (Leviticus 18:22) to condemn homosexuality: "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind; it is an abomination. "
In fact, this rule is in the Old Testament, but that these groups
ignore is that there are 613 commandments. Who respects all these
precepts are observant ultra-Orthodox Jews. Some examples include: do
not eat milk and meat mixtures (Exodus 23:19); not walk outside the city
limits on the Sabbath (Exodus 16:29.); men should not shave their
beards with a razor (Leviticus 19:27). Thus, someone who shave to travel
to the coast on Saturday to eat a cheeseburger is already breaking
three commandments. And even if there is an objection to homosexuality
in the Old Testament, there is a commandment urging the persecution of
those who do not follow.
In Christian practice, if there is conflict between the precepts Old
with the New Testament, the latter is a priority. The Christian, when in
doubt, you should ask what Jesus would do. We can imagine that Jesus
could even accept a homosexual as his follower. Jesus came to sinners,
prostitutes, tax collectors. Did not condemn the adulteress, who had
been sentenced to death by stoning. Jesus advocated an alternative path to the strict obedience to the law,
with charity as a priority. This irritated the Pharisees, which
culminated in the plot that led to the crucifixion of Jesus. So someone
who blindly follow the Old Testament is acting like the Pharisees.
spiritualist groups that do not allow the approach of homosexuals in
the work of the spirit house unaware that there is no doctrinal
objection to the integration of these people in these activities.
In spiritualism there are vague references to homosexuality, because his major works guide are other times.
Some quotes help to elucidate the spiritual situation in homosexuality.
Andre Luiz in the book Evolution in Two Worlds, mentions that the
Spirit has no gender. The perispiritic body will perform according to
their intimate life determines, reflecting the feature determined by
your psyche.
The physical body is changing gender to each new incarnation. Sometimes
the spirit reincarnates in inverted form to the prevailing in his
mental state, race or task. In this case, the Spirit is still identified
with the genre of the past incarnation, which may not be the same as
the current one.
Even considering this spiritual dissonance,
the spiritual literature never mentions homosexuality as something
pathological or objectionable, which needs forced modification.
Religious radicals who believe that reprehensible perversions would be
characteristic of homosexuals are unable to see that heterosexual
behavior may have even more degrading.
In conclusion, there is no religious argument to justify hostility and
persecution of homosexuals. Spiritualism will only be at the forefront
of the transformation of humanity when their representatives are able to
act as true Christians.
